Nationally ranked faculty.
Agronomy #7 in the nation (second in the West)
Plant Science #2 in the nation
In a national survey measuring faculty scholarly productivity of 375 universities that offer a PhD degree, faculty in the crop science and agronomy program at Washington State University ranked #7 and faculty in the plant science program ranked #2. Among only the western Universities, WSU was ranked #2 in crop science and agronomy.
The rankings were published in the Chronicle of Higher Education on 11/16/07, and was conducted by Academic Analytics. Rather than using a single metric (e.g., citations) for a single year, their ranking system employed several measures of research productivity over multiple years. The ranking incorporates refereed articles, citations, federal extramural funds, and major national awards.
What’s more, WSU President Elson Floyd has identified agriculture and vet-med as his two highest priorities.
