Community Supported Agriculture
2009 CSA Survey
Please email Brad if you’d like to be on the mailing list for next season.
What is Community Supported Agriculture?
A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a partnership between farmers and their customers. Customers become a CSA member by paying for a season’s worth of produce at the beginning of the growing season. Farmers provide a portion or a ‘share’ of the farm’s produce to each CSA member each week throughout the growing season.
How Does the CSA Work?
Returning CSA members must sign up for next year's share by February 28. In March we will contact those on our waiting list to fill remaining shares. Shares are given on a first-come-first-served basis. Contact Brad to be added to the waiting list. See our CSA brochure for more details about the CSA.
Season: Third week of May through the end of October, 24 weeks in total.
What is in a share: A full share or a ‘box’ contains enough vegetables for 4–6 people. A half-share contains enough for 2–3 people. Some members split a share or a half-share with other people. You will need to make these arrangements on your own.
Pickup: Tuesday Grower’s Market in the Moscow Food Coop parking lot, 4:30 – 6:30 pm; or Friday at the Organic Farm, 3:00 – 6:00 pm.
When you pick up your share you will repack it into your own container. Many people use cloth bags or cardboard boxes. If you are not able to pick up your share one week, you are welcome to have a neighbor or friend pick it up for you. Shares will not be held past the set pick up times, and unclaimed shares will be donated to the food bank.
What is included in your CSA share: A diversity of vegetables and fruit each week, such as:
Spring Box – salad mix, baby spinach, radishes, snow peas, cilantro, shallot greens
Summer Box – broccoli, bok choi, kale, bunching onions, strawberries, summer squash, basil, green beans
Fall Box – potatoes, pumpkins, carrots, cabbage, sweet corn, tomatoes, storage onions, salad mix
Each week you will also receive a newsletter that provides an update of what is happening at the farm as well as recipes for produce that is in your share that week.

Volunteers
It is possible to trade volunteer labor for a CSA share. To receive a full share you will need to work 7 hours a week, to receive a half share you will need to work 4 hours a week. Volunteers start the third week of May and go through October. Volunteers are expected to come to the farm at their scheduled time (schedules will be arranged prior to the beginning of harvest) and to enter their hours in the volunteer logbook. The farm has a ‘no pet policy.’
Visitors
Visitors are welcome at the farm. Friday afternoons are the best time to visit since we will be distributing boxes at that time. However we are flexible and will welcome you for visits on other days. When visiting, please check in with a manager before touring the gardens. We can give you important information on where to and where not to walk. When you visit the farm, please be understanding if we are busy with a class and don’t have time to chat. And please leave your pets at home.
